This is a dam fun ride that cruises by 137 miles of dams and bridges. The damn views are stellar, so remember to bring your damn camera. Do not wander off the dam tour because some of the roads are marked private property and can get you into lots of damn trouble.
This dam ride leads you through rugged gorges and past rocky cliffs, mountain streams, tranquil lakes, miles of roller-coaster dips, and some pretty bitchin’ dams. You can visit Boone Dam, South Holston Dam, Weir Dam, Wilbur Dam, and Watauga Dam.
On this ride you will also pass the “World’s Fastest Half Mile,” Bristol Motor Speedway. Bristol Motor Speedway and the Bristol Dragway offer track tours around the most popular motorsports complex in the country.
The Long Dam Ride shares some of the same roads with The Snake (Link to the Snake Ride Here) at the Green Bridge on Highway 421. The bridge has many names: American Legion Bridge, 421 Bridge, and South Holston Lake Bridge.
The town of Elizabethton is home to the Carter Mansion and Sycamore Shoals State Historic Park. The Carter Mansion is the oldest frame house still standing in Tennessee. The home was built before the United States even existed. More than 90 percent of the materials in the interior of the house are original.
Tip: Make sure to stay within the speed limit. There are plenty of bears in the area and hitting one would not be fun.
