There are plenty of iPhone and GPS mounts out on the market today. We have seen them all. They usually include a monstrosity of arms, connectors, plates, and screws. We wanted something clean, simple and elegant that can stand alone without being obtrusive. Good design should be about simplicity and solving a problem elegantly.
Our Road Glide iPhone Mount utilizes an existing unused space on the Road Glide instrument housing bezel. By simply removing the decorative adhesive strip and drilling two small holes, you will be able to mount your iPhone, iPod Touch, or GPS device within your field of view... all within 10 minutes install time. (Don't worry... if you ever want to remove the mount, just place your decorative adhesive strip back to its original location, and you are back to normal.)
Leveraging this location allows you to maintain a low profile mounting solution, while keeping the iPhone in the riders field of vision. Most other mounts are located either directly on the gas tank or off to the side on the handlebars, creating a horrible symmetry and a mess of cables and mounting brackets.
The Road Glide iPhone Mount is beautifully machined out of solid billet aluminum (6061-T6 for you metal nerds), available in Chrome or Blank Anodized, Contrast Cut. It is specifically designed for the use of Ram Mount cradles that utilizes an industry standard AMPS diamond hole pattern (1.912 inches, center-to-center). Ram Mount cradles are available for many devices including the Apple iPhone, iPod Touch, Garmin, TomTom, and Magellan devices.
The Road Glide iPhone Mount has six thru-holes where most Ram Mount cradles mount directly center. However, the Apple cradles for both iPhone and iPod Touch use an offset mount. We provide these offset thru-holes to allow the Apple devices to sit centered on the bezel.
Cruising down the highway on a long trip? Use some good earphones to block out the wind noise while playing your music collection or listening to your navigation directions. Headed into town? We also include a 12" AUX audio input cord that allows you to output your iPhone audio into the factory Harley-Davidson radio input while maintaining full maneuverability in steering. This mount offers plenty of choices in how you want to deliver your audio.
Please Note: We are currently working on a hardwire power solution and will be bringing it to the market within the next few months. You guys will love it as it will hardwire into your existing ACC switch!
Currently we have Ram Mounts in stock for the iPhone 3G, 3GS, iPhone 4, iPod Touch 2G and 3G. We hope that Ram Mount releases a new mount for the iPod Touch 4G very soon.
