That was until the old Dunlop found a sheet metal screw on the freeway and lost its shapely figure. Luckily for me (and my friends with pickup trucks) I had one of Genuine Innovations’ Street Tire Repair & CO2 inflation kits ($51.99) in my tool bag. The kit includes tire repair plugs, with installation tools for tubeless tires, patches, and glue for inner tubes, two 45-gram CO2 cartridges, an air chuck, and a carrying case. The kit is small enough to fit in your jacket and it really gets the job done quickly and simply. How quickly, you say? Total time from diagnosis of a flat tire to being back on the road was less than 25 minutes. 02 The rather large-sized sheetmetal screw looked to be quite a challenge for this repair kit. After all was said and done, it wasn’t. 03 It took a tug of war to remove the screw, but it finally came out thanks to a pair of Vise-Grip pliers.03 It took a tug of war to remove the screw, but it finally came out thanks to a pair of 04 Here is the blowhole that the overly worn Dunlop had acquired, which would soon be plugged.04 Here is the blowhole that the overly worn Dunlop had acquired, which would soon be plu 05 The knurled debris cleaner tool removed road crud out of the puncture as well as prepped the hole for the plug.05 The knurled debris cleaner tool removed road crud out of the puncture as well as prepp 06 The specially formulated tire plug was installed on the insertion tool and the two ends were held together by its own stickiness.06 The specially formulated tire plug was installed on the insertion tool and the two end 07 The tool was then plunged into the hole in the tire. 08 After we wiggled it around to make sure the plug was in the carcass of the tire, the tool was removed, leaving the plug in the tire.08 After we wiggled it around to make sure the plug was in the carcass of the tire, the t 09 The Monster Chuck was screwed onto the CO2 cartridge until the seal was punctured allowing the air to flow.09 The Monster Chuck was screwed onto the CO2 cartridge until the seal was punctured allo 10 The valve body of the Monster Chuck was then pressed against the Schrader valve and BAM! the tire was inflated.10 The valve body of the Monster Chuck was then pressed against the Schrader valve and BA 11 With the tire inflated and holding air, the remnants of the tire plug were snipped off with a pair of dykes.11 With the tire inflated and holding air, the remnants of the tire plug were snipped off 12 Now the tire was plugged, inflated, and ready to take me the rest of the way home, all in a matter of minutes.12 Now the tire was plugged, inflated, and ready to take me the rest of the way home, all in a matter of minutes.
