PIAA Introduces Upgraded Lighting for Harley and ATV Applications

A newly-announced performance upgrade #881 bulb is now available from PIAA

Portland, OR, December 13, 2011 - A newly-announced performance upgrade #881 bulb is now available from PIAA, the industry leader in high performance lighting products for the powersports and automotive markets. Owners of late-model Harley-Davidson motorcycles and several models of UTVs can now improve their nighttime vision and visibility with upgraded direct-fit bulbs from PIAA (pronounced pē′-uh). Many newer Harleys are equipped with driving lights using #881 bulbs, and some UTVs have lighting systems that also use this style bulb. PIAA is now introducing an upgraded 881 bulb that offers substantially more illumination than the stock bulb, with no additional power draw.

Specifically PIAA’s new 881 Xtreme White Plus bulb offers the equivalent light of a 50 watt bulb, while drawing just 27 watts, the same as the standard bulb. The new PIAA bulb also provides a much whiter light than standard bulbs, which provides greatly improved nighttime vision for the rider, and much greater visibility to others both day and night.

Complementing PIAA’s new 881 Xtreme White Plus bulb is PIAA’s
H4 Xtreme White Plus H4 headlight bulb for Harleys and many other motorcycles. The H4 XWP provides a much greater increase in illumination and visibility compared to standard H4 halogen bulbs. These H4 Xtreme White Plus bulbs, also interchangeable with 9003 and HB2 bulbs, provide an amazing 110 watts of illumination while drawing just 55 watts of operating current, and are a direct fit replacing the stock H4 bulb. These bulbs do not require any additional wiring or relays.

The combination of the new 881 and the existing H4 Xtreme White Plus bulbs provides extremely bright, yet cool white, lighting that allows the Harley rider to see farther ahead and also allows motorists to see the rider from a greater, safer distance. This lighting also affords the rider greater depth perception and color recognition than standard bulbs, further enhancing rider safety.

Explains Gordon Robertson, Vice President of Sales for PIAA Powersports, “We’re always looking for ways to make riding safer, more comfortable, and more enjoyable. These new 881 and H4 XWP bulbs do just that, using advanced technology to greatly improve illumination with no additional power draw and no modifications needed. These innovative new bulbs are direct replacements for the original bulbs, and provide the Harley rider with an enhanced riding experience.”
