Though there are many air cleaner options out there, few have as much forethought as the StageOne kit from Exotx. This, made in the USA, kit is designed to solve many shortcomings that other manufacturers may have. One of the issues that has plagued other air intake kits has been the annoying amount of vented oil that seems to collect at the bottom of the filter making it dirty and clogged. The Exotx plate is designed to reduce or eliminate that oil. It does this by way of an oil capture groove. This groove is a small chamber where excess oil can collect rather than run down the inside face of the backing plate. The groove follows the vent passage directly into the intake manifold where it is eliminated. Made from a proprietary stainless steel mesh media, it doesn't clog when wet like paper filters. It is also fully washable and reusable. Exotx claims that it also aids in mpg and increases horsepower. To top off this combo Exotx also has interchangeable filter covers in a myriad of styles and colors. We went with one of Exotx's Dub covers in silver for our 2008 H-D Electra Glide. There are also kits available for non-Delphi fuel injection bikes as well as S&S and H-D Carburetors from 1995-present. (3.)ith the stock filter removed, we cleaned the EFI unit and checked for any issues. (4.)The backing plate with internal breathers was bolted to the cylinders.
