WindVest, which for years has been making quality adjustable and quick-release fairings for just about every motorcycle brand made, have now started making replacement fairings for batwing baggers. The shields are available in 4-inch, 6-inch and 8-inch versions in clear and various tinted options and feature a curve in the upper part of the windshield that redirects the wind and reduces drag.
We installed a few on our daily commuter bikes and really liked the looks of them. With the great looks aside, WindVest's design did a good job of keeping our helmets from bobble-heading at high speeds due to the "flip" at the top of the windshield, which all but eliminates the air buffeting most replacement windshields possess.
After the five-minute, three-bolt installation, we found that the 8-inch version did the best job of keeping the wind off of us, but we liked the look of the shorty 4-inch shield in dark tint the best.
Due to rider height, saddle choice and personal taste, suggesting one windshield to fit all is close to impossible, but with WindVest's three sizes, they just may have what you need. B
