We started by removing the stock clutch cable from the clutch.
We then removed the nacelle and stock handlebars from the Road King.
The 16-inch Hill Country Customs bars were then bolted to the risers.
The new bars are already prewired with Duetch connectors so they just snapped right in with no hassles.
The bars come with the correct length brake line as well as a new chrome brake line junction that installs in minutes.
Once the new brake lines were installed, we bled the brakes.
The new clutch cable was installed and the clutch adjusted.
We then reinstalled the nacelle and headlamp and tightened to factory specs.
The last order of business was making sure all of the lights work and that the brake lines didn’t leak.
And there you have it, 16 inches of easy-to-install goodness courtesy of Hill Country Customs.
Ahen our buddy, Randy, wanted to swap out his bars on his 2007 Road King, he wanted to go ape. Apehangers that is, and he wanted to do it mostly for comfort and a bit for attitude.
While looking at his options, Randy knew he wanted a set of 16-inch handlebars, but didn’t want the hassle of figuring out what length cable, hoses, and wires, or the trouble of trying to stuff all of it in the bars by himself.
That is when he stumbled upon the Hill Country Custom Cycles website and found what he was looking for; a true plug-and-play system. The Hill Country bars are priced anywhere from $479 to $1,099 and come to your door already internally wired with the right size cables to hook up. The bars also show up with the correct length electrical control wires topped with OEM connectors, so they are ready to plug in, making it a very hassle-free installation. Hill Country has hundreds of bars in stock with tons of grip, lever, and control choices totaling up to thousands of killer color and chrome combinations that can be had.
Once the order is placed for a set of bars, Hill County’s team of builders take your year, make, and model bike into account and cross-reference the info with their database of type, style, and height of handlebars, and the end equation equals a set of bars made to order and ready to bolt up.
Follow along as we simply and easily turn this mundane Road King into the king of the apes, the Hill Country Cycles way. B
