Harley Steps Up For The Women Riders
In other Harley-related news, H-D and Buell have a presenting sponsorship for this year's AMA International Women & Motorcycling Conference. The event takes place August 19-22 in Keystone, Colorado. This will be the second time the Motor Company has been the Presenting Sponsor of the conference, which will offer a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for thousands of women riders to come together and enjoy the camaraderie, scenic roads and informational seminars during the conference. According to the Motorcycle Industry Council, women now account for 12.6 percent of all motorcycle riders, a 29 percent increase since 2003. As a reflection of this trend, the AMA has seen an increase in conference attendance over the years and anticipates that it will double at the 2009 event with more than 2,200 participants. Want a new Indian but don't want to wait for it? Indian Motorcycle now offers a Factory Delivery Program that lets customers order a motorcycle through an authorized dealership and pick it up at the factory. All 2009 Indian Chiefs are eligible for the new delivery program. While you're there enjoy the program's personal VIP tour of the factory. Myrtle No More
At long last, the whining and complaining is over. And so is the Myrtle Beach rally. At least, in an official capacity. Rather than ban the event outright, city politicians took the passive-aggressive route by passing a bunch of rider-unfriendly ordinances to discourage folks from bringing their vacation dollars to town in the summer. Local residents wanted more peace and quiet; now they can use it to spend all that tourist cash they won't be making. With this economy, the timing couldn't be better.
