Being the FNG (F-ing New Guy) around these parts, I have had much guidance from Toph and Courtney, but basically it's a trial by fire. Not that everyone on the staff of Hot Bike, Baggers and Street Chopper aren't nice folks, but you need to hold your own around here and know that time waits for no one. Being relatively new to the print media realm, I have learned quickly that packing each issue with good stuff while meeting a deadline is not an easy thing to do.
Being sleep deprived is also a new thing to me for a few reasons, one being that I like to get down and dirty working on bikes, so day-long hands-on tech article photo shoots met with night-long writing sessions is a pretty common occurrence. Another thing that keeps me from catching the proper amount of Z's is becoming a new parent. Anyone who has children of his or her own knows that attending to my little one also keeps me up into the wee hours of the night. Throw into the mix air travel to shoot bikes, media junkets to far-off lands as well as attending various bike weeks all over the USA, and you will see that we editors are Father Time's whipping boys. Trust me, I am not complaining. No matter which end of the candle is burning quicker, it really doesn't matter to me, because I really dig it here at Baggers and I hope it shows to you all out there in Readerland.
Sleep? Who needs it? I can do that when I'm dead. Until then, I'll be up all night on Lo-Carb Monster and Popeyes fried chicken filling these pages for y'all.
