2007 Harley-Davidson Street Glide Custom - A Gun Slinger's Personal Ride

Custom 2007 FLHX

Every year Jeff Theisen or his business partner David Call of Gunslinger Custom Paint (GCP) plan a new bike to show off some of GCP's paint schemes and fabrication capabilities. GCP also likes to feature many Fat Bagger Inc. (FBI) components as GCP does the paint for FBI Motor Company. This 2007 Street Glide was brought to Sturgis last year as a display bike to be featured in the FBI display on Lazelle Street. GCP calls their built bikes "Regulators" and they are assembled and built in the wild west of Golden, Colorado. GCP builds about 15-20 custom H-D bikes per year for special clients. They build these in conjunction with GCP's normal paint productions in their down time between production runs for other motorcycle manufacturers.

This bike was special to Jeff because he is very fond of Deep Candy Red paint, silver, silver leaf, and Black Cranberry. This color combination has been Jeff's personal favorite since GCP started its custom paint division.

GCP was started as a division of its mother company Pearl Auto Body that has six collision centers in the Denver Metro area. GCP was started in the back section of the main Denver store in 2003 as a concept to accommodate the large demand for custom painted choppers. In 2005 GCP then moved into its current 24,000 square foot state of the art facility.

As the chopper industry slowed down in 2008 GCP started fabricating the stretched tank and side covers featured on this bike for baggers. Evolving the clean flowing paint schemes from choppers to baggers was a natural progression for GCP. GCP focuses on long flowing designs and lines that look like a nicely finished product rather than just some individual painted parts added to a bike. Jeff personally likes stretched bags and tanks that create a very long effect on a big bagger. Some other features are special two-toned inner fairings that tie into the overall paint scheme.

Aside from the beautiful visual stance of this FLHX Jeff wanted to add some extra passing power to the Twin Cam. He had Freedom Harley-Davidson out of Denver tear apart the motor and fill it back up with some go fast parts. The stock cylinders and pistons were replaced with big bore Screamin' Eagle units that bumped up displacement to 103ci. Some head work and SE cams help to get the most reliable power from the fuel-injected motor while a SE high-flow air cleaner assembly and Rinehart exhaust aid in getting the air in and out of the motor.

After Jeff rode the bike for a season including all over the Black Hills of South Dakota he sold it to a car dealer from Iowa who absolutely had to have it. The Street Glide now lives on cruising the roads of Iowa. Jeff says this, with all respect to his fellow Midwesterners, "This bike will surely stand out in the crowd or just a large field of corn."
