Just thinking of the words Daytona Bike Week can give you shivers down your spine. The thought of escaping from your hometown, which is covered in multiple feet of snow, and has temperatures hovering around the zero-degree mark, sounds like the perfect way to straighten out your psyche.
This year's winter was brutal all across the country, and there seemed to be no let-up in sight. So, a quick jaunt to the Sunshine state with a few buddies ranked high on our list. Unfortunately, Mother Nature decided to throw all of us a twist in the form of the wettest Bike Week in memory.
There was no way a couple hundred-thousand motorcycle enthusiasts were going to let a little precipitation (well, maybe it wasn't so little) get in the way of having a great time.
While the weather did have an impact on the crowd totals, it made no difference where we went; there were plenty of people everywhere. Be it Main Street, Ridgewood Avenue, Beach Street, or the Speedway, we found a lot of hearty folks doing what they set out to do, have a great time. All in all, in spite of the weather, we, like lots of other attendees, had a great time in Daytona. Now, it's time to towel off, put the sunscreen back on the shelf, and make reservations for next year's event.
