2009 OCC SR Cruiser
What do you ride when you can ride anything? If you're Paul Teutul Sr., patriarch of the most famous chopper shop in the world, Orange County Choppers (OCC), it's an in-house built bagger. Long the source of the handbuilt trendsetting, over-the-top, long and lean choppers, OCC has added a new line of baggers to its line of custom-built motorcycles. Powered by the new fuel injected S&S; X-Wedge motor, the new OCC bagger has everything--power and good looks.
We were lucky enough that we got some 20 minutes of "Senior's" time during Daytona Bike Week this year to capture some riding shots. But, trying to photograph a famous face is tough, it took a good 10 to 20 minutes just to get Senior on the bike and moving and when we stopped to turn around it was like a mob scene; people riding by calling his name or just giving the thumbs up. But, we got the riding shots done that fateful day and went on to shoot the detail shots the next day away from the crowds.
How did a bagger appear in the OCC line-up? The bagger is a natural progression of the OCC product line and a hot commodity right now in our motorcycle universe. The OCC bagger is powered by the 117 ci, X-Wedge tri-cam engine, which runs through a six-speed transmission and spins a 200mm rear tire. The frame geometry is pretty much standard fare for a heavyweight cruising/touring bike and handles better than some other offerings in the same weight class, even though the X-Wedge engine is an inch and a half longer than a Twin Cam. The huge difference is in the visual appearance of the bike itself. The paint is deep and smooth, the chrome flawless, and the whole package seems to meld together as a finely crafted motorcycle should. With that said, we suggest you click up the OCC site and check out the closest OCC dealer and then go have a personal look at the newest member of the OCC family--we think you'll like it...a lot.
