The Crew From Hyevon Choppers Puts Together A 100th Anniversary Road King That Is Strictly BusinessA lot of people outside of the East LA bike crowd haven't heard of Hyevon Choppers. Heck, there are a lot of people who have driven past their nondescript shop on Painter Avenue for years and never even known that there was a bike shop tucked in next to the McDonald's. That is because the crew at Hyevon Choppers isn't all about the bling and flashy window dressings that other shops are known for. They are more interested in things like horsepower and making your bike look good than they are about making diamond-plate window frames. They are the kind of guys who would rather impress you with a pack of their customers passing you on the highway like you were welded to the pavement rather than impress you with a bunch of gaudy furniture filling their waiting room.
So it is no wonder that when Marshal- better known as "Shak"-dropped off his 100th Anniversary Road King for a set of Chubby Beach Bars and to have the front fork dipped in chrome, the bike rolled with a hopped-up 95ci Twin Cam motor, Rivera clutch and a Baker DD6 transmission upgrade. According to Shak, he will click it into sixth gear and just be cruising along, the bike not breaking a sweat, he'll look down at the speedometer and be doing 100 mph and have to roll out of the throttle to slow that rocket ship down.
The guys from Hyevon are realists as well; they know that with every performance upgrade, stopping power becomes more important. So they added a pair of Performance Machine four-piston calipers and rotors to match the Performance Machine 21-inch Gatlin wheel they bolted on up front. Out back, they added another Performance Machine caliper, rotor and matching 18-inch wheel.
Eventually Shak got his chrome frontend and Chubby Beach Bars-they even threw in a Headwinds headlight and some Kuryakyn goodies for good measure. But true to form, the guys from Hyevon made sure all of the performance mods were finished up first. There is no doubt where their priorities are.
